Engagement Party for Kristina

It's been awhile since I've posted anything because I was working on Engagement Party stuff for my youngest daughter Kristina...Now that the party has happened I can show you some of the things we made for it...

First is the Table Decorations...they were made using jars from the World Market & Michaels.   We covered them with burlap, lace, pearls, twine, sheer ribbon & burlap flowers.  Inside the largest jar we put small rocks and then on the day of the party we added babies breath and a pretty white flower which I don't know the name of (see the third photo of the flowers).  All items are sitting on a oval shaped slice of wood from Hobby Lobby which is sitting on top of two doilies and a colored burlap table place mat.  I also found the cute blue and green flowered table cloths from Target, which totally matched our color scheme, so I went to four different stores to have enough to cover all of our tables at the party...and bought them all!

Next are the decorations on the inside around the fireplace...the pretty blue, green & white balls and stars are from the Martha Stewart Party Collection.  The Love letters are made using paper mache letters which I painted, stenciled, stamped and sprayed with blue, green and peach colored Glimmermist sprays.  I also added some pretty burlap flowers.  The wedding date and Eric & Kristina banners are made from cut burlap, then sponge painted white. The letters were painted in black and the hearts were painted red.  I added a bit of stickles around the hearts for some sparkle.

We set up a Cookie Desert Table.  The "Love is Sweet so Grab a Treat" sign is a photo frame from World Market that already was painted with chalkboard paint.  I added the wording using Sharpie White Paint Pens.  I also added some swirls, a butterfly, a big burlap flower and some stickles for some sparkle.  Then I hung it from a stand that I had purchased from Hobby Lobby last year.  Worked out perfectly!

I made 10 different cookies prior to the party and put them in the freezer until the day of the party.  On the day before the party we made the Oreo Cookies covered with White Chocolate and blue & green sugar crystals.  Each is individually wrapped...they are on the left hand side of the bottom photo in the white wood rack.  On the center white platter are individual sized packages of "Chex Mix Christmas Crack" which I made tags for and just called them "Chex Mix Crack".  It consists of Chex Mix Corn & Rice, Cheerios, Chow-main Noodles, Peanuts, and Almonds mixed with a cooked/creamed mixture of butter, brown sugar, vanilla and baking soda.  Very addicting which is why it's named "CRACK"...lol

For each type of cookie I made a cute sign with the name of the cookie on a chalkboard stick which was stuck inside a tiny ceramic flower pot.  I added burlap ribbon, flowers and butterflies to decorate.  I also added small rocks in the pots to hide the foam which was holding the signs straight.

For the cookie bags, Kristina designed the saying on her computer then we printed out each "To Go Bag".  We set them on the cookie table for people who wanted to take cookies home with them.  I set them in a glass bowl decorated with burlap ribbon, chalkboard label and a burlap flower.

This is how the table looked after adding all of the cookies and candies on the
day of the party!

Kristina's new married name will be "Ames" so when I saw the letters at Hobby Lobby I couldn't resist decorating these for the appetizer table.  They came black with the burlap already on them and I added the flowers, ribbon, pearls and butterflies.   They really looked great set out on the table and she didn't know about them ahead of time so it was a fun surprise the day of the party.

The last items I want to share are things that Kristina designed.  "He Popped the Question" sticker labels which we stuck to the front of plastic cups and filled with kettle corn.  The ring in the picture is a photo of her actual engagement ring...sooooo cute!

Then she designed an Instagram sign for tagging Instagram photos...her hash tag is #ameskataiwedding2015.  On the same table she made a sign to go with her "Date Night Sticks".  These are Popsicle sticks which I painted and covered with patterned paper.  They were set out so that guests could write out "Date Night Ideas" for Kristina and Eric.

The last photo shows the "S mores" packages which we made up and added "S mores Love" tags.  That evening all of the younger folks sat around our fire pit and made S mores...
