Christmas Cookie Jars

Hello again!  Here to tell you about another Christmas item I made.  This time it is Christmas Cookie Jars.  I made about 10 of these jars and my daughters and I gave them as gifts.  My granddaughter also gave one to her teacher along with a snowman she made and a batch of the cookies that were the same recipe as the jar ingredients.

I did find one of the recipes on Pinterest but the others were from a Betty Crocker Cookies in a Jar Book I found at the grocery store.  After layering the dry ingredients from the recipe I closed the jar and added a bow and some jingle bells.  I printed out the "Additional Ingredients" and the "To Prepare Cookies" part of the recipe, mounted it on some pretty Christmas paper, added some little Christmas tags and some snowflakes and tied this to the bow on the cookie jar.  You can't see this but I also added a set of measuring spoons to each of the jars just for fun.

Extra note:  If the ingredients do not completely fill the jar just crinkle up some wax paper or plastic wrap and set onto the top of the ingredients to keep them from moving around and getting mixed up inside the jar.

Here are a couple of the jars I made...

Front of jars look like this

Here is the Recipe for the "Christmas Cookies in a Jar" that I used...

1 qt. glass jar
1/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/8 teaspoon baking soda
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 cup quick-cooking oats
1 cup dried cranberries
1 cup white chocolate chips

Additional Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions:
1. In a 1 qt. glass jar, layer the sugar and brown sugar, packing well between each layer.  Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; spoon into jar.  Top with oats, cranberries and chips.  Cover and store in a cool dry place for up to 6 months.

2. To prepare cookies:  Pour cookie mix into a large bowl; stir to combine.  Beat in butter, egg and vanilla.  Cover and refrigerate for 30  minutes.

3. Drop by tablespoon full 2 inches apart onto un-greased baking sheets.  Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes or until browned.  Remove to wire racks to cool.  Yield: 3 dozen

My granddaughter and I made each of the cookie recipes before I made the jars just to be sure they were yummy!!!  And yes these are!!!

Bottle Brush Christmas Trees

Good Morning and Happy New Year!

I haven't posted in a while because it's been so busy around here...I'm so ready now to get back to my crafting!  I did however finish a couple of Christmas items that I am going to post today.

The first one is a few of the Bottle Brush Christmas Trees I made.  I found these on Pinterest, of course!!!  I Love Pinterest it's so addicting and fun to search.  They have so many clever ideas for Holidays, Parties, Recipes, Clothing...almost anything you can think of.

Anyway...I saw these trees and had to make them...so I made four, three silver and one gold.  The picture is just the three silver trees of which one is made with silver, blue, green and white, and the other two are made with silver, pink and white.  The gold one was made using gold, red and a tiny bit of green, it's very lovely but my daughter took it home before I could get a picture of it!  All of the items came from Michaels Craft Store except the silver and gold bottle brush trees, they came from World Market.  All of the items are hot glued onto the tree.

Here is  a picture of the silver trees...

My Recipe for the Bottle Brush Trees:

     Hot Glue Sticks

One Bottle Brush Tree from World Market either in silver or gold.  They come on a round wooden stand which I cut small enough to fit into the tea light holder.  Then I hot glued it into the tea light holder cup.

One Tea Light Holder Cup in either silver or gold.

Small and Tiny Christmas Ornaments in your chosen color scheme.  I used 10 small ornaments, 7 extra small ornaments and 6 tiny ornaments.

I also used...20 silver and white berries cut from some Christmas sprigs, 10 metal pieces consisting of flowers, a snowflake and a butterfly, 5 clear mini bead balls and 5 pearl beads.  One silver tree has a string of pink tiny pearl beads wrapped around it and the gold tree had white tiny pearl beads wrapped around it.

Please note that the amount of items you may need will depend on how you want to decorate your tree...this list is just what I used for one tree.
